How to: Make Slow Cooker Ultimate Baked Potato Bar

Who knew baked potatoes in the slow cooker could be so easy??

You need about 5 minutes of prep and a few hours of cook time for steamy baked-to-perfection potatoes.

As usual before baking a whole potato, you should pierce each potato multiple times with a fork. This allows hot air to escape and prevents any potato explosions.

Drizzle with olive oil and rub in with your hands until the entire potato is covered. Sprinkle with a little salt and pepper for a little flavor.

Wrap each potato in foil and place in the slow cooker. Cook until soft, about 4 hours on high and 8 hours on low. When done, carefully remove from the slow cooker with tongs and let cool until you can touch them.

Here comes the fun part!

Create your ultimate baked potato bar with an assortment of toppings to make your potatoes shine! I’m talking about everything from sour cream and chives to bbq, salsa, jalapenos and more.

The possibilities are endless – I like to think, if it would work on nachos then it’ll work on the baked potato bar! Enjoy and have some fun!

What? I would never have considered making a baked potato in the slow cooker. What a great idea! And, who doesn’t love a loaded potato. I just got a slow cooker again and will have to add this to the list of things I want to try out!

This is the first time I have used the slow cooker to make baked potatoes, they turned out great! The toppings were perfect and everybody loved making their own loaded potato.

  3. Omg 100% need to do this. We have baked potatoes all the time and they’ve gotten a bit boring – need to mix it up a bit. I’ve saved this as a pin – thank you for the dinner inspiration!

I don’t know how to use a slow cooker, but this recipe looks as good as it sounds and probably tastes amazing!

Excellent idea. I will make this on Friday. I love baked potatoes and this looks like a fun dinner for my family too. Thanks!

  6. My mouth honest to goodness began to water when I read this post! I’m (very sadly) allergic to white potatoes, but I could totally do this with sweet potatoes. It’s been ages since I’ve really loaded up a baked sweet potato and that sounds SO GOOD to me now. Catch me adding sweet potatoes to my shopping list this week (plus all the “fixings”)! Great idea here!
